Winter Right Around the Corner

I am in the back yard raking the last of the leaves and picking up dog poop! How exciting. I am clearing off deck furniture and moving it into the garage for the winter. This makes cleaning off the snow in the winter much easier and I am all for low maintenance. The dogs love the snow and usually make their own little cow path to the back yard to do their business and play. Well for the exception of Teddy. One snow flake and he heads for the sunroom to do his business. I don't mind as it's flooring and easy to clean. Two out of three isn't bad hey? I have yet to figure out away the dogs could use the toilet. I do understand that cats can be trained to use toilets. One for the cats!

Well I made myself another fresh cup of coffee and I am heading outdoors again. I will pick this up much much later after finishing the outside front and back yards. This is when I am thinking I should live in a condo. Then of course not pets at least not as many as I have with me here.

Well 25 bags of leaves and I am finally finished with all the yard work. What a job! I am now ready for the snow to fly. I am sure the dogs and me will sleep soundly tonight considering all the fresh air. Oh my aching bones!

How Many days Till Christmas?

Perhaps you may be thinking that it's too early to be thinking about Christmas. Well, some of the stores do't seem to think so ... I remember my mom she would start decorating her house around this time. She usually got me to string the lights on the Christmas tree. I remember one year her tree had over 1100 christmas mini lights. It looked beautiful. I too, love lights, Christmas lights!

Fire next door

This morning at 5:00 a.m. Teddy my Toy Poodle wanted to go outside. I let him out and the other two my shepherd and Sheltie followed on behind. A few moments later I hear Teddy barking in the back yard. I quickly went to the back door to tell him to stop. Since he wouldn't I had to get my shoes on to go into the yard and as soon as they heard me coming they headed in and we all went back to bed.

A few minutes later Teddy and Angel started barking again. Unusual for them when in the house. I told them to be quiet and I listened intently for what, I didn't know. I then decided to get up and look out the window in the sun room which faces the back yard. Then I saw it ... sparks flying in the air. I knew something was on fire. Then I remembered when I first let the dogs out they were sniffing the air as only dogs can do. I quickly made my way back into the house and went to the front side door to see if there was something amiss. Then I saw flames shooting out of my neighbours garage (which is only a few feet from mine). I immediately let my dogs out as I knew they would start barking and wake up the neighbours. I started calling 911 when I saw my neighbour coming out of her house. Then I heard the fire trucks coming down the road.

My neighbours across the street came out of their house as they heard my dogs barking. They said they wondered why my dogs were barking so early and then realized if it wasn't for them that things could have been worse for my neighbours. The garage has a gas furnace in it as it's a work shop with many tools.

The sad part is that this fire seems to be the work of an arson, However, this conclusion is yet to be determined by the fire department when they complete their investigation.

My neighbour from across the street stated that you had better give your doggies a treat for doing their job and alerting us to danger.

It's true isn't it ... animals do serve a purpose than just being a companion they certainly look out for us.

October 2007

It's me again, Angel, I love running through the leaves in my back yard, especially after mommy rakes them up. What fun!!

Today, however, it's raining outside and the possibility of snow. It's time to change the tires on the truck. I can just imagine summer weather all year round, but I digress and must do what needs to be done around here.

It seems as if the changes in weather/seasons in this part of the country happen in one day. I was driving to work the other day and I knew there were leaves on the trees and when I came home for lunch well ... they were on the road the leaves that is. How dramatic is that?

Since it's raining outside I wouldn't be able to finish the yard work I started last weekend. I am tired from the work week and decided to take it easy today (Friday) and enjoy doing whatever I want to do. The dogs are lying here beside me and waiting for a treat. So I had better appease them soon.

Oh by the way, I have noticed the prices of RVs have come down significantly over the past few weeks. i guess now is the time of year to invest in a rig. This is good for me to know for next year when it's closer to my retirement.

I will be back!
