I am Officially Retired as of Today...

I love retirement ....

So what's not to love about retirement?

I have actually settled into retirement quite nicely. There are so many things I can now do when I wish to do them. One of the big things for me is routine, yep routine and I say it loosely because a routine is all about flexibility. One thing I have noticed I do have to look at the calendar every now and again so I don't miss Friday garbage days! LOL

Since retiring I have taken up drawing portraits something I could never do. Let me post my latest creation. Can you guess who it is?

No bad hey for not being able to draw portraits. I know I have a long way to go but that's okay because I have all the time in the world to perfect my new venture.

Well I am off to have lunch now ... one thing about having all the time in the world to do things the days seem to slip away rather quickly. It makes me wonder how I ever fit work into my life. LOL

Introductions ...

I am a retired civil servant, with three dogs, a Ford Ranger, and a house with large yard enclosed by a chain-link-fence.

For the past five years my blog was primarily about pre-retirement and my dogs. My life as a retiree is a new chapter with many new adventures ahead. Since I have more time to devote to things I love I will blog about them now and again.

One of my many favorite things to do is reading mysteries and sometimes writing short stories. I have been toying with the idea of writing a murder mystery for sometime now. There is nothing stopping me now is there? Just a minute I am feeling a moment of inspiration ...

"He was a formidable character whom everyone loved in their own way, until he was found in the library stabbed with his own scissors. He managed to etch the initials J B on a pad in his own blood. Who was J B?"

My writings, if you haven't already noticed are more on the lighter side of life. (The above quote being the exception). There is too much doom and gloom out there that I feel I don't need to use this space to bring people down even further. I'd much rather bring a smile to your face or even a laugh or two when you visit here.

I have rethought the above paragraph and decided to add another element of my life, not to bring doom and gloom but rather to share my valleys as well as my mountain top experiences as these things too are part of my life which contribute greatly to my growth and development as a person. After all, suffering and difficulties are a part of everyone's life and mine is no exception!

There is a quote I read in a book not long ago, the author is unknown.

"Life is not a journey to the grave

with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming ... WOW ... WHAT A RIDE!"
